Last week when I left my phone at home, I received an anonymous call. I just found it out when I arrived home. My phone rang for 7 seconds. The number was an 11-digit mobile phone number and it begins with 0977… so basically, it was a Philippine mobile number under a Globe network.
I waited for a day for the anonymous caller to call me again. But the caller did not call me back. So after a day, I tried calling the number but it was unreachable.
I was wondering who it was. Who could it be? The caller could be someone I know or somebody that I used to know with an important matter to discuss. Or someone who needs something from me. Maybe the caller just wants to ask if I’m open-minded. I’m not. Or the caller could be, you know… THE ONE.
Well as intrigued as I can be, I turned to the place where ‘good-looking’ people go after such an experience — ONLINE. I searched the number on Google. But I was totally disappointed because Google did not provide me any identification of the person I was looking for. I tried using other search engines but there was no positive result.
Then, after a few days. While browsing Facebook on my smartphone, I had this crazy idea that maybe Facebook can help me identify the caller’s identity. Tan dan dan dan!
I opened my Facebook Messenger and searched the number. And voila! There she is. My anonymous caller is a photogenic chinita woman and is a recruiter of ***, a BPO company.
I did not contact her. But I am happy because I revealed my anonymous caller’s identity.
They say curiosity killed the cat. But satisfaction brought it back. Right? Sometimes it really feels good if your curiosity is answered. I don’t know for other people but for me it is.
My guess is that you also encounter scenarios similar to this. It could be that somebody called you anonymously or somebody texted you without introducing himself/herself. Either way, it is very helpful to know this. And this is the reason why I am sharing this.
From this creepy experience, I found out that you can search an anonymous caller’s Facebook profile — if you have the mobile number that is associated with their Facebook account.
Your Take Away
You can use Facebook Messenger or Facebook’s search engine to search for your anonymous caller’s identity.
– This is helpful for people who used to receive anonymous calls.
– If their call’s purpose is business, you have another way to contact them — not just through their mobile phone which could be busy or unreachable. You can also contact them via Facebook.
– Or, if he/she is a love interest. You can stalk them and befriend them online. Whatever works for you.
How it can work against you
People can search your Facebook profile online if you associate your mobile number with your Facebook profile. Therefore, if you want to maintain your Facebook profile’s privacy, do not associate your mobile number with your Facebook account or do not provide your personal number to just anybody. Worst, post your personal number online for everyone to see. Use a business number instead.
What to do next
Now if you have your crush’s mobile number and says she does not have a Facebook account, go and look up her number on Facebook. See if she is lying. Good luck amigo!
